Low Back Pain and Misalignment

Many of our patients come in with a similar complaint. Low back pain, a tingling sensation that radiates to their leg, and numbness. They may say that the pain is exacerbated during everyday activities such as gardening, bowling, or even sitting. Patients with this condition range in ages from early twenties all the way to the golden years. What patients fail to identify is the cause of this pain, or even the true location. Quite often, the issue lies in the misalignment of the spine which results in subluxation, thus causing pressure on the nerves leading to pain, tingling, and even sciatica.

Adjustments help restore the spine to its true alignment, and relieve the dysfunction caused by subluxation. They can address the root of the problem and not just the symptoms. Think of a running hose with no holes or kinks, this is a spine with free-flowing messages from the brain to the rest of the body. Now, imagine the same hose with tears and kinks throughout. The water will not flow with the same force and can cause damage in undesired areas of the yard. Similarly, when a subluxation occurs, messages from the brain to the rest of the body will not travel as they should and can cause issues for the organs they are connected to.

Therefore, it is important to treat the illness and not just the symptoms. Next time you are reaching for pain meds, remember that they may just mask the pain. Learn to know your body and ask yourself “Am I subluxated?” “Where is this pain coming from?” “How can I treat the issue?” Many of the times the answers to these questions will lead you in our direction and we are happy to help.

Remember, “health is not just the absence of a disease. It’s an inner joyfulness that should be ours all the time; a state of positive well-being.”-Deepak Chopra
